This barnwood has a very unique appearance and is superior to the wood that you can purchase new in stores now days. This barnwood is very old and is not milled and cut in this fashion any more. This piece is made with black angle iron, steel hairpin legs, and brown roughsawn salvaged barnwood. Table has been sealed with Shellac (shellac is a resin secreted by the female lac bug, on trees in the forests of India and Thailand. It is processed and sold as dry flakes, which are dissolved in ethyl alcohol to make liquid shellac, which is used as a brush-on colorant, food glaze and wood finish. Shellac functions as a tough natural primer sanding sealant, tannin-blocker, odour-blocker, stain, and varnish). Info on Barnwood and recycled furniture:

"The increased strength of reclaimed wood is often attributed to the lack of air pollution that existed up until the 20th century as well as the wood often being harvested from virgin growth timber, which had hundreds of years to grow before man touched them. Reclaimed lumber can be sawn into wider planks than the harvested lumber and is more stable than newly cut wood because reclaimed wood has been exposed to changes in humidity for far longer and is therefore more stable."

*Purchase your furniture from recycled barn wood materials to help save our forests. It also cuts back on the energy usage associated with cutting, milling, and delivering since this wood has already been used once.

*Buy products made in the USA:

-Foreign labor standards allow for unsafe worker conditions.
